Method: I drew a ‘V’ stroke going from top left, bottom middle to top right. So much so that on my system I could visually see the improvement. Those brushes are more demanding then the Basic1 Brush. The one on the manual it is different now, as it state that all AMD CPUs have broken vector optimizations under Windows. However this is strange, because there isn’t architectural differences between Ryzen and Threadripper, and my own old FX processor is better using AVX. So about those entries, the one on the FAQ say AMD vector optimizations are broken except on Threadripper. There seems to be something strange going on there, so just deactivate them then. These optimizations can make Krita a lot faster when painting, except when you have an AMD CPU under Windows. Vector optimizations are a special way of asking the CPU to do maths, these have names such as SIMD and AVX. This isn’t needed if you’ve got an AMD Threadripper™ CPU. Settings ‣ Configure Krita… ‣ Performance.

However Krita’s official documentation ends up being kinda vague, a little confusing and even contradicting itself.įor older AMD CPU’s (Krita 2.9.10 and above), turn off the vector optimizations that are broken on AMD CPUs.
